Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport became the setting for a different kind of photographic project, with Incubis’ extensive art taking centre stage.

Rather than photographing the architecture as the primary subject, I approached the terminal as a backdrop and context for the art, right from large copper sculptures and detailed murals to suspended installations spread across the expansive terminal.

The focus was on capturing the materiality, craft and detail of the art, while exploring their relationship with the architecture around them. The scale of the terminal, its structure, light and movement became an important part of how the work was photographed, placing each piece within the environment it was created for.
